Rundle College’s 1st Team won the KeNako School Golf Festival by 14 shots from Paul Roos Gymnasium (from Paarl), with the Rundle College 2nd Team in third place.  A total 20 school teams from all around South Africa participated in the Festival which was played over 3 days at 3 different courses, George GC, Kingswood and Oubaai.  Teams are made up of 4 players with the best 3 scores counting towards the team total each day.  There are 2 Divisions at the KeNako School Golf Festival, the Medal Division for the best players and a Stableford Division that allows players with higher handicaps to compete for their schools.  The Rundle College 1st Team played some excellent golf; Franklin Manchest (72, 69, 70) finished 3rd in the Individual Standings, with his team mates Cameron Moralee (73, 70, 72 – 4th), Alan Lones (74, 75, 68 – 5th) and Julien Sale (75, 73, 73 – 6th) all contributing each day to the Rundle College team victory.  Rundle College’s team total of 641 was an impressive combined 7 under par.

Paul Roos Gymnasium were led by Michael Sherriff who scored 70, 70 and 67 for a total of 207, an impressive 9 under par.  Paul Roos Gymnasium had led by 5 strokes after day one but the team was unable to sustain their effort on a broad basis, despite the excellent performance of Michael Sherriff who finished 2nd in the Individual Rankings.

Luca Filippi from Milnerton High won the Individual title with a score of 205 (65, 72, 68) to be a very impressive 11 under par for the three rounds.  Luca is one of South Africa’s top junior players and this truly was an outstanding performance by Luca at three different and demanding golf courses.

In the Handicap (Stableford Points) Division St Johns College from Johannesburg won by a single point from Milnerton High, making up an 8 point deficit entering day 3 at Oubaai to win by a single point.  The St Johns College team comprised Nicholas Peterson, Nicholas Hallendorff, Alexander Ebeling and Cameron Roets.
