KeNako students dominated the Oubaai Club Championships, winning both the Men’s and Ladies Titles.  Charnay was the only girl from KeNako who entered the Ladies Championships, whilst the Men’ Division was dominated by KeNako students.

Cameron Moralee managed to successfully defend the title he won in 2013 with an excellent 4 under par total of 140 (68, 72).  Cameron played some superb golf on the outstanding Oubaai course, which must be rated as one of the top golf courses not only in the Southern Cape but in South Africa.  Oubaai truly is in exceptional condition.  The greens were running true and quick!

Cameron is maintaining a consistently high quality of golf and he contends in most tournaments in which he plays.  Not only did Cameron win the Men’s Championship, but he also won the Junior Championship and at the Captain’s Dinner Prize Giving Function held on the final evening he received a third award as the Oubaai Player of the Year.  Cameron works very hard at his game and he thoroughly deserves the success that he is now enjoying.

Charnay is really starting to blossom.  In the second round she shot a career best 77 – this included an unfortunate three-putt at the final green when she had already secured the title.  She has a wonderful attitude and considering that she has now only been playing golf for just over 2 years she has every chance of succeeding at a higher level.  She is also a very smart young lady so she has the world at her feet!

Jade Buitendag, who joined the KeNako Academy on the School Leaver Program at the beginning of 2014, struggled a little in his opening round, scoring a 4 over par 76, but he then played a scintillating second round of 7 under par 65 to miss catching Cameron by just a single stroke.  Jade is intent on making a career out of golf and if he can sustain scoring like this he has every chance of succeeding!  Jade has slotted in well at the academy – he is enjoying the new experience and the challenges that he is now confronted with, both in the gym with Training Professional Jan-Harm Venter and technically with Head Golf Professional Roger Wessels.

Alan Lones too continued his recent good progress, finishing in 3rd Place with rounds of 73 and 72.  Alan has become a very consistent young golfer and his golf has improved tremendously over the past year.  It is interesting to note that both Jade and Alan hail from East London in the Border region of the Eastern Cape.
