Alan Lones and Aidan Boon both shot one under par 71 to finish a shot behind Cyril Botha at the Southern Cape Junior Order of Merit competition played at Simola on Sunday 13th April. Alan continued with his excellent form and was awarded second prize on a count back. He is in the midst of a run of several tournaments around the country and this was his first SCJOOM tournament since returning from the SA Boys U19 Championships where he made it through to the Matchplay phase of the tournament.
It was good to see Aidan Boon not only playing but featuring in the prizes once again. He had to spend 10 weeks on the side-lines with a stress fracture in his back and this was the first local SCJOOM tournament that he has played since late 2013. His stress fracture was not golf related and it was a most unfortunate accident. It has certainly set him back in the rankings and he has a long way to go to make up the ground that he has lost whilst not being able to play. The team at KeNako look forward to seeing Aidan playing consistently well in the coming months and moving back up the rankings. Prior to the Simola tournament he had slipped all the way down to No. 24 in the SCJOOM rankings.
