Franklin Manchest enjoyed an very good result in the George Open against a strong field that included the Southern Cape’s top golfers, finishing in a tie for 3rd place on a total of 146 (74, 72). Scoring conditions on the day were tough with run-away winner Jovan Rebula being the exception.

Jovan won the tournament by 5 shots with two excellent rounds of 72 and 66. Of the other KeNako students, French citizen Julien Sale continued with his good recent improvement by finishing 9th and it was good to see Hayden Garcia playing again and doing well. Hayden has had an extended lay-off due to a shoulder injury and he did well to finish in 11th position in his first tournament for a couple of months. The George Open was conspicuous for another first – Swiss student David Morand, who joined the KeNako Academy program late September, played in his first major tournament and enjoyed a pleasing result in tieing with Hayden in 11th place. David played a solid first round level par 72 but struggled in the afternoon to drop down the field.
